A reply from the person who would build the site, with two or three questions about the business. If the honest answer is that you don't need a new website yet, we say so.

Thirty minutes on WhatsApp or video. Some briefs are clear enough to skip it.

A plan and a number, in writing
What the site will contain, what your team can edit, where it is hosted, how long it takes, and what it costs. One document. Every site is designed from scratch, so the quote comes after the brief, never before it.
Useful to include: your current website if there is one, what the business sells and to whom, and a deadline if you have one. We work from South Africa with clients here and abroad; a call fits into most time zones.
